Shut Up and Sing - Dixie Chicks Ad Yanked by NBC

If you thought that the media isn't government influenced (dare I say controlled?), think again.  Here's the 30 second spot that NBC refuses to air on the grounds that it's disparaging to the Presidency - the advertisement for the Dixie Chicks new movie (Rated R), made in response to the backlash they received for anti-Bush comments post 9/11.

I'm not ready to make nice either.

  1. You think the government got NBC to not air this?

  2. Not directly. But I'm sure that NBC didn't shun the ad because they are so darn moral either.

  3. Do you have any basis to make that claim other than conjecture and You Tube?

  4. How about the fact that they didn't air it. Think of all they do air.

  5. Let me get this straight. You write this specious claim on your wife's blog instead or your own or your Mos blog. Your basis for claiming governmental control is that this is an instance where the Republicans were NOT lambasted on national television despite the fact that they are continuously. Have you noticed how Wolf Blitzer has stepped up his attacks on Republicans and pro demlib reporting bias as the polls have narrowed and the election gets closer? Is Ted Turner behind THAT?

  6. Ted Turner eek!And you think Mos' blog is mine based on? Conjecture and youtube?

  8. then NBC wouldn't air anything against the president...have you ever seen one of their newscasts?

  9. Eh... my basis for the claim came from the film company's accusation against NBC, not just You Tube. Jeez, Barry. I'm just saying I believe that there is certainly a feeling among major media outlets that doesn't allow them to be too controversial about this government and this war. Not yet, anyway. I'm almost surprised by NBC though - with Bush's approval rankings in the gutter, I'd have predicted they'd jump right on endorsing the Chicks movie.

  10. Have you seen the democrats approval ratings lately? Barely five points above the Presidents.

Personally I think 2008 is the time for an out of the box Preident like New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg, Mogul Donald Trump or Professional Golfer John Daly.

  11. Both parties suck and people have known forever that there's not a nickels difference in the two except in the rhetoric they spew. Vote anyone but a repubocrat in 2008!
